THE FOLLOWING LICENSES AND PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE EXPORT AND IMPORT OF TIMBER IN GUYANA:

EXPORT LICENSES:

  1. Forest Produce License: This license is required for the export of all forest produce, including timber. The application can be made to the GFC, and it must be accompanied by a list of the products to be exported.
  2. To apply for the Forest Produce License and TSA, the exporter must submit an application to the GFC. The application must include information on the type and quantity of timber to be exported, as well as details on the exporter and the destination country. Once the application is approved, the exporter will receive the necessary documents, including the TSA and the Phytosanitary Certificate, where applicable.
  3. Timber Sales Agreement (TSA): A TSA is a contract between the exporter and the GFC, which sets out the terms and conditions for the sale and export of timber. A TSA must be in place before any timber can be exported.
  4. Phytosanitary Certificate: This certificate is required for the export of timber to certain countries to certify that the timber is free from pests and diseases.

Please note that the exact format of the certificate may vary depending on the specific requirements of the importing country, so it is important to check with the relevant authorities in the destination country to ensure that you are meeting their requirements.

IMPORT PERMITS:

An import permit is required for the import of timber into Guyana. This permit can be obtained from the GFC, and it must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate, where applicable.

  1. To apply for an import permit, the importer must submit an application to the GFC, along with the necessary supporting documents, including the phytosanitary certificate, where applicable. Once the application is approved, the importer will receive the import permit, which must be presented to the customs authorities at the point of entry.
  2. Customs Declaration: A customs declaration is required for the import of timber into Guyana. This document must be completed and submitted to the Guyana Revenue Authority.
